Search For Smodrick
From JComServ Documentation
Search For Smodrick is my first NCURSES game. You move around a grid, looking for Smodrick. Each grid square has a different level of radioactivity and will do varying amounts of damage to your shields. You have a radiation detector with a limited range, to help you move through the grid while doing the least damage possible to your shields. Your sheilds replenish over time, but if they are depleted you will die. You must navigate to the exit of each level to progress to the next. If you find and capture Smodrick, you win. You may also keep advancing through levels without catching Smodrick, to further increase your score.
Complicating things is an android, one per level. It is unaffected by radiation, and is tracking you. If you have enough remaining shield, you may release an electromagnetic pulse, which will push the android away from you at the expense of some of your shield energy. If the android is close enough when you release a pulse, it will be destroyed. If the android catches you, it will kill you.
Search For Smodrick is written in C++/NCURSES, and should compile and run on any system that supports NCURSES.
